One of the Quest's first events--Walk for Constitution Reform.

On the eve of an execution in Alabamba, Quest members gather downtown Mobile for an hour long vigil from 4:30-5:30 pm.  The purpose of the vigil is to publically protest captital punishment, call for a moratorium, be in solidarity with the person to be executed and to pray for the families of the victim of the crime as well as the one to be executed.

Each November, Quest joins thousands of demonstrators in Columbus, Georgia to call for the close of The School of the Americas/WINSEC.  This school, on the campus of Fort Benning, trains military from developing countries.  Many of the graduates  have been linked to massacres, assasinations and disapearances in their respective countries.

The Quest joins with Alabama Arise and The Bay Area Women to host a legislative reception.  This provides an opportunity for Mobile area citizens to meet their state legislators and share their concerns.  Legislators have the opportunity to inform the public regarding pending initiatives.

Since before the start of the war in Iraq, Quest has joined The Citizens for Peace to demonstrate their opposition.  In the beginning they received many rebuffs from passing motorists.  But the tide has turned and almost all of the responses in the recent effort on 5/28/07 were supportive.

In an effort to encourage community dialog, the Quest brings speakers to the Mobile Area.  Most recently we helped to sponsor the appearance of Barbara Martinez Jitner.  Ms Martinez produced a critically acclaimed documentary "La Frontera that exposes the vicious cycle of poverty and depravation experience by women working in the factories along the U.S. Mexican border.

On Monday June 4, 2007 The Quest sponsored a "watch party" of a presidential candidate forum organized by Sojourners.  The forum featured democratic contenders Hilary Clinton, Barak Obama and John Edwards.  It was called "Faith Guiding our Vote: a Presidential Forum on Faith Values and Poverty.  A discussion followed.
